Why JLUZ?

In 2009, our family’s world changed when baby Lourdes was born at just 26 weeks. Her months in the NICU were a trial of resilience and, ultimately, a life-saving sign. It was in the aftermath of her early arrival that Luz Molina was diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer.

During that concerning time, the Wilkerson-Molina family, with four children under 10 years old, was sustained by the selfless kindness of strangers, local support, and critical educational assistance for our young kids. 

Inspired to pay that generosity forward, Luz and her husband, J, founded the JLuz Foundation in 2021. Built on the vision of "Giving A Hand Up," 

JLuz exists to support families in their fight, provide educational aid to students, and pass down the art of giving back to the next generation.
